Our Emergency Plan

With hurricane season approaching, it was time for us to develop an emergency plan for emergencies for your pet while in our care, emergencies for your home while in our care, inclement weather, natural and man-made disasters, and client or pet sitter personal emergencies.

What happens if there is an emergency while you’re gone?

  • If there is an emergency for your pet:

First, your pet sitter will assess the situation and provide care to ensure that your pet is taken to your vet, the nearest or client-designated 24-hour veterinary hospital or another pet safe location if necessary.

Then, your pet sitter will attempt to contact you at the numbers provided for decisions to be made. If you are unable to be reached, the pet sitter will use his or her best judgment to ensure your pet is cared for appropriately until you can be contacted.

  • If there is an emergency for your home:

First, your pet sitter will notify the police, fire, or other emergency agency or service to help take care of the problem.

Then, your pet sitter will attempt to contact you at the numbers provided for decisions to be made. If you are unable to be reached, the pet sitter will use his or her best judgment to ensure your home is cared for appropriately until you can be contacted.

EMERGENCY/DISASTER PLAN

Remember–every client, every trip should have a designated emergency contact on file in our office. The contact person must be in town, have keys to enter your home…and know your pets current care routine. It is also helpful to always have emergency pet food, water, medicine, and other pet supplies on hand as well as a first aid kit, flashlights, extra towels and blankets.
